Reigny Abbey

The Reigny Abbey , founded in 1128, is a listed building. It is set in 14 hectares of lush greenery with its own water hydraulic system which you can still look around.

In the Middle Ages, Reigny was very powerful and prosperous and had up to 300 monks and lay brothers.

The building boasts some interesting remains, evidence of its celebrated past, namely: the exceptional 14th century Cistercian dining hall , and the opulently furnished hall and monk's dormitory, restored in the 18th century.

The owners and the association of the friends of the abbey have come up with a number of original initiatives aimed at preserving the Abbey in its original state. See the France 3 report, ""Operation local colour at Reigny Abbey.""

The abbey also offers guided tours , provides function rooms for hire (400 sqm and 250 sqm), as well as gîte-style and bed and breakfast accommodation . Access presentation video by clicking HERE For further information, please visit the web site:

Its cultural season kicks off with Easter celebrations and a traditional Easter egg hunt ; it's followed by the ""Words and Music"" Festival in July (see >video) and ends in September with heritage weekends.
